How To Use Annointing Oil In Wicca

Rose Ariadne Said:

The word “Anoint” means to rub or massage a liquid into a person or on items such as candles, tools, supplies, etc. Anointing oils are used in Wicca for several purposes. Sometimes, it is used in rituals to enhance communication and connection to deities during Sabbats or Esbats.

At times it is used to attune with the energies from the Moon or the Sun or other planets. Oils are also used to honor God or Goddess during rituals. In the tradition of candlemagick, oils are used to empower the candle (which may personify a human being, animal or thing) to push forth our intentions more clearly into the Universe.

Anointing oils are usually made of natural herbs, roots and flowers. There are many methods of extraction, but the easiest way to create an herbal oil is to add dried herbs to jojoba oil, olive oil or sweet almond oil. We can allow it to soak in the oil for a few days or place it where the moon or sun too can empower its contents.

Herbs can enchant us with their beauty and perfume. Herbs have been used for magickal purposes since the dawn of time. The herbal aromas transport us to a different level of consciousness, a different time or a far away place in an instant. Use of perfumed oils, candles or incense usually enables us to concentrate on our spell working more intently.

Here are some examples of anointing oil used in Wicca:

Mix 3 parts Patchouli oil with 2 part Musk and 1 part carnation to create corporeal Sabbat oil that is believed to promote communion with the deities present at the ceremony.

If you mix 2 parts frankincense with 1 part Myrrh, 1 part Allspice and 1 drop Clove, you can make a fantastic concoction that may also be used in Sabbats.

To attune with the lunar energies and celebrate the full Moon, use a mixture of 3 parts rose, 1 part jasmine and 1 part sandalwood oil. Anoint the body before the Esbat while absorbing the powerful lunar energy.

Another version of the oil used in full Moon ritual is 3 parts Sandalwood mixed with 2 parts lemon and 1 part rose. This can be used in the ceremonial bath for the evening or placed near the altar and used to anoint candles or the body.

During ceremonies where the Goddess is present, we can honor Her with a version of Goddess oil made with 3 parts rose, 2 parts tuberose, 1 part lemon, 1 part palmarosa and 1 part ambergris.

To honor the Horned God, we can use 2 parts Frankincense, 2 parts cinnamon, 1 part bay, 1 part rosemary and 1 part musk. This oil may be used to anoint a candle representing the Horned God or to invoke the God in rituals.

If a candle or doll represents a person who needs to be healed, we can rub radiant health oil on the diseased part. This oil is made by grinding angelica root, calendula, eucalyptus, lavender, juniper and rosemary and adding two parts jojoba oil plus one part castor oil.

What Are Spell Kits, And What They Can Do For You

Rose Ariadne Said:

Magick has been around for milleniums! The ancient secrets were passed on to the followers through word of mouth for a long time. Many of the herbal and medicinal lore were passed on through generations to come to this time and age.

However, many among us are not that confident of casting spells. There are people who think that magick should only be practiced by a select few.

It is true that the more we practice, the better we get at working magick.

However, everyone needs to know the way to create their dreams. Small changes in the thought process can make large changes to the results. It’s always better to learn the craft ourselves rather than have others create the environment, construct the chants and visualize for us. An old lady that you reach on the internet may not visualize the lover of your dreams as well as you can! It could be dangerous if we hand over our dreams to someone else.

So some smart people came up with spell kits. These are collections of items required for specific spells. For love spells, the kit may contain dried rose petals, some some perfume, rose oil and a pink candle. Using these items, we can easily sit down and perform the spell. Of course WE visualize the lover of our dreams, thank goodness!

The advantage of a spell kit is that we don’t have to go all over town or google all over the internet shops trying to find a particular colored candle or a dried herb that you have never heard of. With these kits, your dream kit comes in a box. All you have to do is pay and wait for it to arrive. When it comes in, open the box, read the instructions and work the spell as directed. If you have any questions, there may be phone numbers for customer service. The first thing to do when the kit arrives is to check off the list of items that are supposed to be included. If they are all in the box, make sure that the kit is designed for working your own specific ritual. The items are really not that important.

The energy that you put into it, the time you take for visualizing the results and making them concrete is more important than worrying about an item that may be missing in the kit.

Here are popular items in some of the kits:

Painted Bottles : Latin American Charm flasks, Hoodoo painted bottles and religious painted bottles for spells such as Breakup bottle, honeyjar spells, compelling bottle, fast luck bottle, money magick, gambling luck, Come to Me, Reconciliation, Peaceful home, Lavendar love, etc.

Oil, High John the Conqueror oil, Love Drawing Oil, Home Protection oil, Lucky

Safe Magick Spells You Can Cast

Rose Ariadne Said:

Spell casting need not be a rocket science. It does not demand a blazing bonfire and a bubbling cauldron from which puffs of multi-colored smoke explode. It does not require rolling thunder and piercing lightning bolts. There is also no need for robes flapping dramatically in a conjured gale force wind. And, above all there is no need for ingredients like eye of newt and blood of bat. That we will leave for Snow White’s evil stepmother.

“Anybody can do Magick” – You must have read this a million times. And, yes, it is true. It is the level and the type of spell casting that will differ, depending on whether you are a “beginner” or an “adept”. The term “beginner” is not necessarily reserved for Seekers; it could also be those of you who have had a tough time trying to get your spells to work, even though you have been practicing the Craft for quite a while. No shame in that.

Effective spell casting requires Knowledge, Concentration Visualization and Clear Intent. Many people struggle with Concentration and Visualization. It is perfectly normal. So, I am going to provide a couple of really practical spells, which are very simple to perform and that address the two most common issues on most peoples minds (you guessed it – money and love). These two spells have produced good results for those who have used them.

Just a word of caution – Firstly, NEVER take short cuts – You have to cast your circle properly EVERY time. It creates a safe environment for you to work in, it keeps the power you raise within the circle until you are ready to release it and it keeps unwanted energies out. Secondly, NEVER do grey or black Magick once you have gotten the hang of spell casting. It is guaranteed to backfire every time – without fail. So much for the Sermon.

Bringing an as yet unknown Lover into your life (courtesy Silverfox and Rev. Darkwolf)

When to perform:

Start the spell during waxing moon, on a Friday night. You may choose to work either alone or with another witch.

Supplies:

Herbal mixture

1 handful dried lavender leaves

1 handful dried rose petals

1 vanilla pod

1 tablespoon coriander seeds

2 cinnamon sticks

You will also need a heat source on your altar (in the Circle) strong enough to bring 2 cups of water to the boil.

(Hint: To dry the lavender leaves and the rose petals, pop them into the microwave for a couple of minutes.)

Other

Piece of Paper

Red Pen

1 Pink Candle anointed with Rose Oil

1 Red Candle anointed with Ylang Ylang Oil

Method:

1. On the Friday night, after casting the circle, light the Pink Candle and the Red Candle and place it next to the heat source on your altar. See the flames you light as the flames of love (pink) and passion (red).

2. Write all the qualities you seek in a lover on a piece of paper using red ink. Create a mental image of the ideal lover in your mind.

3. Then, holding the image of the ideal lover in your mind, visualize the lover drawing nearer and say the following affirmation three times: “I am good and I attract love into my life.” You can use your own, similar affirmation if you choose to do so. (This affirmation must be repeated three times daily, with intent, for at least 14 days)

4. Next, you charge the herbs by visualizing your ideal lover entering your life. Add the herbs to the water and bring it to the boil while continuing the visualization of your ideal lover entering your life. Quietly chant into the rising steam: “Love is drawn into these rooms; it comes by the power of these blooms.”

5. When the herbs come to a boil, reduce the heat until it simmers slowly. Continue with the chanting and visualization for 15 to 30 minutes.

6. Draw up the Circle and send it off into the astral plane to do your bidding

7. After this extinguish the candles and remove the pot from the heat. When the contents had cooled down, offer the herb and water mixture to a tree – either in your garden or in a park. This can be seen as earthing the spell. Keep the paper in a safe place.

8. Repeat the spell for nine consecutive days. On the ninth day, after your final 15 or 30 minutes of chanting, burn the piece of paper and retain the ashes. When doing your final offering to a tree, blow the ashes of the piece of paper into the air visualizing the wind carrying it to your ideal lover.
