Aromatherapy Certification

Juliet Cohen Said:

Certification is not needed in the United States . It is often required in the European countries. Many people are confused about aromatherapy certification in the United States. There is no standardized certification for aromatherapy in the USA. A practitioner who has aromatherapy certification has completed a course of study that granted him a certificate of completion. In the United States each individual state is responsible for granting licenses or certificates to individuals like nurses, cosmetologists and massage therapists. The different states impose different criteria – some require a license before you can actually lay hands on any person while some do not.

Many states do require any individual who “lays hands” on another individual to be certified. In the United States, “hands on” professionals, such as nurses, physical therapists and beauticians, are licensed or certified by each state. Some states prohibit any kind of “hands on” practice without a license, but do not license or certify aromatherapists. In those states, you can prepare and blend essential oils, sell them, teach about them, but you cannot apply them to a client. As a practicing aromatherapist, you must know what your state’s laws allow you to do. The lack of standardization is a problem for the public.

They have no way to evaluate what aromatherapists do. With no standardized curriculum, and no core body of knowledge, anybody with a scented candle can claim to be an aromatherapist. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happens. Careers in aromatherapy can be anything from therapeutic counseling, oil storage management, production and manufacturing of essential oils and learning to custom blend different oils for specific patients. Aromatherapy can be used to strengthen an already set up medical practice or used with massage therapy. There are many openings in this booming business of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy certificates can be earned in several different ways. Most programs are either night or weekend seminars and are open to anyone to attend. Today, practicing aromatherapy offers the joint advantage of doing your fellow citizens a service while at the same time this career can be extremely lucrative. Whatever your reason for opting for aromatherapy courses, there are many schools that you can choose from to acquire aromatherapy certification in india today.If you decide to pursue aromatherapy as a career, compare and evaluate several schools that offer aromatherapy certification.

The Different Ladders of Perfume – A Complete Know-How!

Roberto Sedycias Said:

We all have at some time or the other taken digs at the socialites who flit in and out of parties wearing expensive designer togs and leaving behind a waft of the most heavenly perfume casting disdainful looks at mere mortals like us. How we wish we could also don designer stuff and walk about in a cloud of pricey perfumes!

I don`t know about the designer clothes, but good perfumes are something which all of us can afford in some form or the other. Not only do perfumes make you smell good but they also act as great mood up lifters. Perfumes come in many varieties of strength; so, before you splurge your hard-earned money, do recognize the various types of perfumes available in the market.

Perfumes get their fragrance from perfume oils which determine the strength of the perfume and its lasting power. Obviously, the higher the concentration of the perfume oil, the longer-lasting will the perfume be.

The after-shave has the lowest concentration of the perfume oil, containing about 0.5% – 2.0%, making it ideal for daily use by men to use as a salve after shaving. Then comes the eau-de-cologne with 3.0% – 5.0% of perfume oil concentration and is most commonly used after a bath during summer-time.

Both these categories are affordable for the average person and does leave a lingering fragrance even if the concentration of the perfume oil is less. Eau-de-toilette with its 5.0% – 8.0% concentration of oil is the most popular as it is obviously stronger than the eau de cologne and stays on much longer. The price, of course is much higher than the above two categories.

The next higher category is the eau de parfum which is at the second top rung of the perfume ladder containing within it a concentration of almost 8.0% – 15.0% of perfume oil. Perfumes now start becoming expensive from this category onwards and in fact, most of us can actually afford only an eau de parfum as our most expensive perfume. The fragrance is strong and the effect long-lasting. For most of us even this category of perfume is to be used carefully.

The top honors belong to `parfum` itself which is totally undiluted and contains the intense concentration of the perfume oil ranging between 15% – 30%. Even a drop of this `parfum` will be enough to leave you smelling heavenly. This is exorbitantly priced and frankly, not many of us can really afford this category of perfume unless it is a very, very special gift or indulgence.

Now, that we are set with the basic knowledge of the different categories of perfume, it is now time to select one judiciously. The important tip to bear in mind is that not all perfumes suit everyone; every individual has her own characteristic body chemistry which reacts differently to each individual perfume. So, the perfume which may smell good on someone else may just evaporate in thin air on your body.

Light floral scents suit some better than strong, intense ones and the opposite is also true. So, before purchasing perfume, always test it on the wrists and wait for sometime to allow the fragrance to develop fully before deciding on whether it suits you or not. Limit your perfume sampling to two or three fragrances at a time so as not to overwhelm the senses. Sniffing coffee beans in between each sampling will help you distinguish them better.

So, go right ahead and indulge in at least one good perfume to begin with and then you can build up your perfume wardrobe also!

The Many Uses of Tea Tree Oil

R. Fredriksen Said:

If you haven’t heard of Tea Tree Oil, you are missing out. It has so many benefits that it is a must have for your home medicine chest.

What is Tea Tree Oil? Basically, it is an oil obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, a plant native to Australia.

Historically, the leaves were used as a substitute for tea, which is how tea tree oil got its name. The part used medicinally is the oil from the leaves.

The Tea Tree has a long history of traditional use. Australian aboriginals used Tea Tree leaves for healing skin cuts, burns, and infections by crushing the leaves and applying them to the affected area. The oils work as an antiseptic and antifungal due to terpenoids found naturally within the oil.

The first to recognize the unique qualities of the essential oil was a government chemist from Sydney, A. R. Penfold. In 1925 he announced the results of laboratory experiments that showed the oil was twelve times stronger than phenol (carbolic acid) which was then the universal standard for antiseptic substances. This led to further research and to the increasing use of the oil in medicine, dentistry and as a home remedy.

In 1930 a report in the Medical Journal of Australia’ commented on its non- toxicity and lack of irritancy. The report noted enthusiastically that tea-tree oil dissolved pus and left the surfaces of infected wounds clean so that its germicidal action became more effective and without any apparent damage to the tissues. ‘Dirty wounds, such as are frequently seen as the result of street accidents, may be washed or syringed out with a 10% watery lotion; the solvent properties will loosen and bring away the dirt which is usually ground in … healing will readily take place.’

In 1936 the same journal reported a very bad case of diabetic gangrene successfully treated with tea-tree oil. In 1937 it was pointed out that one of the outstanding features of the oil is that the presence of blood, pus or other organic matter actually increases the oil’s antiseptic powers by some 10 to 12 per cent.

During the Second World War tea-tree oil was issued in first aid kits to army and navy units in the tropical regions. At one point demand so outstripped supply that synthetic antiseptics had to be substituted. This, coupled with the fervent post-war interest in antibiotic drugs, led to a decline of interest in tea-tree, which persisted right up to the 1970s.

So what are the complete benefits of Tea Tree Oil? Most notoriously, people have used it for the following conditions:

* Acne

* Athlete’s foot

* Dandruff

* Vaginitis

* Thrush

* Periodontal disease

* As an antiseptic

* Boils

* Lice

* Eczema

* Psoriasis

* Yeast infection

There is dispute over whether Tea Tree Oil can be taken internally. Most packaging recommends against it, others claim in reasonable amounts it has various benefits. But taking it internally should only be by the advice of a professional.

So now you have heard of Tea Tree Oil. What are you waiting for, find some for your medicine chest.

When one is desirous of mastering the art and wishes to help someone feel better. Put your ego aside and listen to what the receiver body is telling you. Let your instincts guide your hands as you fill your being with love and allow your compassion to flow from you to the receiver. When you function with purely instinctual basis, you are automatically in touch with those magical forces that allow you to sense things which normally escape your awareness.

A person giving massage to another person should also take care of following things like he should be free from any tension and stress. He should not be suffering from any disease. If this is so that the person giving massage to another person is suffering from cold hen there are possibilities that he will transfer his own problems to receiver body and receiver will be sicker. Aromatherapy Bath Product: Great Blends and Ideas for the Optimal Unwinding Aromatherapy Bath

Trevor Price Said:

You could go to a store and buy an aromatherapy bath product, or you could make your own at home. Herbal and aromatic baths are an ancient tradition, simple to make and easy on the wallet. Keep reading to learn more about why herbal baths are good for you, how to draw the best herbal baths and recipes that you can make.

Benefits of Herbal and Aromatic Baths

Herbal baths are detoxifying, aromatic and intensely relaxing, both spiritually and physically. The ceremony of bathing in herbs is a daily rite in many cultures, and a return to the course for both the body and the spirit.

The herbs chosen for an aromatic bath will change the effect of the bath. For example, if the bath is designed to invigorate the mind, one herb or combination of herbs may be chosen, but if the bath is designed to promote sleep, then another herb or combination of herbs may be chosen. This is just as you might pick one type of herbal tea to settle an upset stomach or another to help you relax.

Drawing the Perfect Aromatherapy Bath

Think of brewing an herbal bath like brewing that big cup of herbal tea. In fact, many people simply toss a few herbal tea bags right into the bath water and let the dried herbs do their work. If you’re making your own herbal baths, try wrapping the herb mixture in muslin and tying it off. Then, either drop these in the bath or tie them to the faucet.

If you want to make your own herbal and aromatherapy bath product mixtures, keep reading for some fantastic recipes that you can blend at home.

An herbal bath can be a most soothing experience, helping with the cleansing of the body and uplift of the spirit. Trying any of the options referenced above will no doubt bring relaxation in the midst of the weariness of life.

There are many other ways relaxation herbs can be incorporated into your life to help you relax.  For example, you can use aromatherapy and benefit from particular herbs such as jasmine.  Jasmine essential oil can be added to your bath to relax your muscles and improve your mood.  Try adding 10 to 15 drops of jasmine oil to warm bath water.

You can also use lavender to promote a good night sleep.  If you have access to dried lavender flowers, simply place a few in your pillowcase.  The aroma will help lull you to sleep and remove the tension in your muscles.

Oil Hits New Record on Supply Concerns

Dylan Sun Said:

Oil prices rose to a new record settlement price Tuesday as traders turned their attention to a government inventory report expected to show tight supplies and shrugged off OPEC’s decision to boost output.

Even factoring in OPEC’s decision to increase oil production by 500,000barrels per day starting Nov. 1, “supplies are tight,” said Addison Armstrong, an analyst at TFS Energy Futures LLC. And according to analyst predictions, they’re going to get even tighter. Analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires, on average, expect Wednesday’s report from the Energy Department’s Energy Information Administration will say that crude oil inventories fell by 2.7 million barrels in the week ended Sept. 7.

Investors had already priced in OPEC’s increase, and many were looking for a larger production boost, analysts said. Light, sweet crude oil for October delivery rose 74 cents to settle at $78.23 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after alternating frequently between gains and losses. The settlement price bested the previous record, set July 31, by 2 cents. Oil’s rise pulled October gasoline 0.25 cent higher to settle at $1.9811 a gallon after the contract spent much of the day in negative territory. In other Nymex trading, heating oil futures rose 1.11 cents to settle at $2.1827 a gallon, and October natural gas added 4.3 cents to settle at $5.934 per 1,000 cubic feet.

In London, October Brent crude oil rose 90 cents to settle at $76.38 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange. OPEC, which produces about 40 percent of the world’s oil, had long been expected to hold production levels steady at the meeting. But rumors started circulating on Monday that Saudi Arabia was campaigning to boost production. Many analysts think the Saudis are worried high oil prices will crimp demand for crude oil, which could hurt OPEC nations in the long run.

However, some analysts interpreted the fact that Tuesday’s meeting lasted longer than expected as a sign the Saudis had a hard time persuading other OPEC nations to boost production. Tim Evans, an analyst at Citigroup Inc., thinks some OPEC members are worried demand for oil will slow in the fourth quarter, which combined with more supplies could mean sharply lower prices. Many OPEC countries already produce more oil than their quotas. But Omar Farouk Ibrahim, spokesman for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, said the announced increase would be based on the group’s current production, not quotas ?a

Meaning the 12-nation cartel will be adding actual oil to the market. That translates into a quota increase of nearly 1.4 million barrels per day, Evans said. “This is a big number,” Evans said, adding that it would take futures traders a while to digest its significance. “This is not something that the market’s going to adjust to in a few minutes.” At the pump, meanwhile, gas prices slid 0.5 cent overnight to a national average of $2.814 a gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Retail prices, which typically lag the futures market, peaked at $3.227 in late May.
